Shirley Ann Jones

Shirley Ann Jones passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. Shirley was the second child born to Irene (Stratton) Jones & George W Jones on February19,1939 in Seaford, Delaware.
Shirley received her formal education through Seaford School District & Jason Public School in Georgetown, Delaware. Shirley worked 26 years for the State of Delaware before retiring in March 2001.
Shirley was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She loved spending time w/her family doing her famous barbecues and making her unforgettable sweet potato pies, as well as playing "Skippo" and "Spades" with her family and friends. When she was not playing cards, you could find her playing BINGO! Sometimes in her spare time she would work crossword puzzles, and watch "Sci-fi) movies. She moved to Dover in 2012 with her daughter, while there she gained more faithful friends at the Modern Maturity Center, who she loved shopping with at a few of her favorite stores and going on trips.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis V Jarrett, her parents, sister Dorothy Trammell, brother Clifford Jones, brother-in-law George Trammell and her BFF Henrietta Cannon.
Shirley's life and legacy will be cherished by her 3 children: Linda Jones Martin, Curtis Jarrett, both from Dover and Lamar (Samantha) Jarrett (Seaford). Six grandchildren: Lamar (Heather) Johnson(JR), Donta Johnson, both from Seaford, Stacy Taylor (Dover), Dominique Johnson(Seaford), Jamar Lee(Rashida) Gray (PA) and LaKeshia Jarrett (Wilmington). 10 great-grandchildren: Jayaden, Jared, Aniyah, Samiyah, Sariyah, Lamar( LJ), Elijah, Christian, James, and Asim. 3 nephews- George and Kermit Trammell (Seaford), Bradford Jones (PA), 1 Niece- Annette Bray (FL), 1 Sister-n-Law Maurita Jones (PA) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
