Mylus Smith

–

Seaford, Delaware

We gather here today to celebrate the life of a man who enjoyed the simple things, a man who was humble, witty, loving, and charismatic. Mylus T.C. Smith, born on July 15, 1957, in Seaford, Delaware. He received his eternal gift to rest on Monday August 17, 2026.

Mylus's message to family and friends would be. Today, I am no longer with you, but I hope my story brings a smile to your face and warmth to your heart.

What mattered most to me was sitting in the sun, enjoying my music, savoring my chicken, and smoking my cigarettes. I was a man of simple pleasures. In my eyes, the sun was never too hot, the music was never too loud, and the chicken was never too spicy. I savored my moments of solitude and the joy that came from the simplest of things. My penchant for reminding my sisters, Tampa, Charlene, and "especially" Channell, that I was the oldest was a playful expression of my charisma and wit. I was never married, but I was married to life, to laughter, to love, and to the small joys that filled my days.

As I reflect on my journey, I am reminded of a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To laugh often and much... to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." I hope that I have succeeded in my own humble way, by bringing laughter and joy to those around me.

I am survived by my loving sisters, Tampa Smith, Charlene Saunders and Channell Smith and my dear nephews Dennis Smith, Marvis Smith and Troy Smith, who I hope will remember me fondly. I now join my mother, Ella Smith-Cornish, my brother, Michael Smith, and our grandmother, Lillie Smith and grandfather Hilbert Moses Smith in the grand orchestra of the beyond.

I invite you all to remember me as I was - a man full of life, who found joy in simplicity. Share your memories, upload your photos, let's celebrate a life well-lived together on the memorial page. Remember, in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.
