Barbara Tabibian

–

Laurel, Delaware

Barbara Tabibian, a woman of boundless energy, fierce love, and radiant creativity, passed away at home surrounded by the love of her family on May 26th, 2025. A devoted mother, proud Army veteran, and friend to many, she lived a life as vibrant as the gardens she so lovingly tended.

Born to Janet and Gaylon Wilcox and raised in Maine, Barbara carried the legacy forward with compassion, service, and an unwavering dedication to others. She served honorably in the United States Army as a member of the Military Police, where she exemplified strength, discipline, and resilience.

To know Barbara was to be welcomed with open arms, warm food, and a heart full of laughter and spunk. She was the proud and loving mother of her daughters, Ashley and Jessica, who were the center of her world. Whether planning road trips, tending her garden, or crafting driftwood sculptures and woodburned art, she infused joy and intention into everything she touched.

A gifted cook, natural caregiver, and passionate maker, she delighted in creating be it in the kitchen, the classroom, or the community. She served as a classroom mom, ran the concessions at the local softball fields and Girl Scout leader, offering mentorship, time, and kindness without hesitation. Her volunteer work spanned organizations like Toys for Tots and the Lions Club, and she never passed up a chance to lend a hand where it was needed most.

She was not only a mother, but also a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her love knew no bounds and was felt deeply by all whose lives she touched.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Janet and Gaylon Wilcox. She is survived by her daughters, Ashley and Jessica, her brothers, Gary and Paul Wilcox, and countless family members, friends, and community members who were made better by her presence.

Our family, as well as our mom, would like to give a special thanks to her Hospice team, who helped her final days be peaceful.

Her roots are planted deep in the lives she touched and her spirit will continue to bloom in every wildflower, every shared meal, every story told around a campfire.
